Chris Duarte’s ’95 Hamiltone – A unique instrument with some issues.
James Hamilton’s inscription inside the spring cavity.
The headstock was broken and repaired years ago, but needs some attention.
The unsealed break has allowed dirt and moisture in and unseated the nut.
Here we see the break. More glue will be injected and the break sealed.
Chris sweats heavily and you can tell! The pots and the copper shield are done!
Moisture and humidity have turned this shield GREEN. Game over.
A closer look at the offending corrosion. This guitar will sound better without it!
Slowly and carefully, the grut comes off. The new shield will improve noise rejection
Ah, now isn’t that better? We will be installing all new electronics as well.
Pots, switch and tone cap installed. Note cloth covered wire and Jensen cap.
Pickups installed and wired. She’s ready for the guitar.
Neck break filled, sealed and sanded smooth. This should prevent further issues.
The new graphite nut in place. This will bring the tone closer to Chris’ Strat.
A quick test drive. An excellent instrument indeed!
